EchoSight1-800pxAssociate Professor John Freeman will be guest hosting the international @echosight Instagram feed for the week of April 13-20.

The website, which has been featured in The New York Times, The New Yorker and TIME magazines, showcases collaborative photographic images produced and edited on smartphones. It was begun in 2009 by UF photojournalism graduate Danny Ghitis in conjunction with a friend in London.

Photographers partner up, with one person sending photos to the other, and images are combined into dreamlike double-exposures using an app called Image Blender.

For the week, Freeman has paired up with CJC graduate Daron Dean, an adjunct and manager of photography at The St. Augustine Record. Their first collaboration is a blending of Dean’s shadow on a surfboard at St. Augustine Beach and Freeman’s image of Reitz Union construction. The Instagram @echosight feed has more than 12,000 followers worldwide.
