Noticias-logoThe Noticias WUFT news team has won first place in the Society of Professional Journalists’ 2015 Sunshine State Awards, in the Spanish language category “Best Student Work – Audiovisual.” Many students’ work was involved, but the winning program was co-anchored by Andrea Terrasa and April Lanuza, and copy edited by Mariana DeMaio, graduate student advisor. Thanks to SPJ and NAHJ’s efforts, there is now an appropriate Spanish-language category under which Noticias WUFT and other programs like it can compete. Awards will be formally announced on Aug. 15 in Miami, a joint ceremony sponsored by SPJ’s Florida chapter and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’ South Florida Chapter.
